The Living Roots Music Festival has announced its 2018 festival lineup which includes headlining performers Irish Mythen, Del Barber, Spencer Burton and Ryan Cook.
This year’s festival takes place May 24-26 2018.
“We are incredibly excited for our third installment of the festival,” said festival founder Eddie Young. “Last year’s festival went very well and we are looking forward to another great year. This year sees ten venues hosting shows over the three days.”
Now in its third year, the festival continues to carve out its own unique place within the city’s annual lineup of festival offerings by partnering with several local businesses to animate their spaces. These pop-up venues range from familiar live music locations like Read’s Newsstand and Café and Bellwether (a downtown consignment shop) to less common locations like The Royal Barbershop and Cinnamon Café while also occupying some of the city’s most popular live music stages like those of The Capital Complex and Grimross Brewing Company.
“Over the last couple years we have built a great relationship with some of these businesses, participating each year and asking to be included in following years,” said Young. “They have been a large support system and help make this festival happen in a big way.”
This year’s festival also includes satellite venues in Harvey and Keswick Ridge bringing the total number of participating venues to 10.
Other performers for this year’s festival include Outside I’m a Giant (QC), ART the band (ON), Morgan (QC), Freeman Dre & Kitchen Party (ON), Taylor Holden & the Law of Averages (ON), Rory Taillon (ON), Brooklyn Doran (ON), Black Suit Devil (ON), Bad Strangers (BC), Superfluid (NS), Morohubu (NB), Ali McCormick (ON), The Lifers (ON), Annie Sumi (ON), Tragedy Ann (ON), Vic Horvath (BC), Ghostly Hounds (QC), Mike McKenna Jr (NS), Old Man Grant (ON), Sam Lynch (BC), Fluffy Little Cowboys (PEI), TWIN (MB), and Belia (NS).
There are also a slew of New Brunswick musicians performing at this year’s festival including Ryan Leblanc, Jason Haywood, Kurtis Eugene, The Montgomery Street Band, Jamie Comeau & Crooked Teeth, The Falling Leaves, The Crossroad Devils, Colin Fowlie, Creative Differences, Quinn Bonnell, Dapper Dan & the Drive-in Classics, Oak, Ash and Thorn, The Kendra Gale Band, Michelle Morrison, White Lyres, Jordan Brown, Delirious Monks, Unholy Freqs, Calum Jackson, Liam Keith-Jacques, Richie Young, Keegan Dobbelsteyn, The Tortoise, the Hare and the Millionaire, and a one-time reunion performance by Before The War.
