This Saturday, Shiftwork will be hosting a “Happening” of sorts. In partnership with Egress Mag and Shivering Songs, it is part night market, part zine launch, part show, part celebration. It is one half of a “twin” event: on January 21st at 9:00 p.m. people will be gathering in both Ottawa, ON and Fredericton, NB to launch the newest issue of Egress Mag. Not only will the programming be similar – attendees will actually be able to interact with people at the other event.
The evening starts off with a Night Market at 5:00 p.m. when people can drop in between Shivering Songs events to pick up local art, crafts, prints and zines.
Celebrations will start at 9:00 with music by Lydia Mainville and Cedric Noel, and a reading by Dylan Sealy.
Egress is a small little project that does what it can at providing people the opportunity to put their creations out in the world, whether it’s publishing their poetry under a pen name or giving them a chance to sell their work. For those who want a way to share their [art/poetry/sketches/musical compositions/prose/prints/lists/photos] with the world, the theme for their upcoming issue is “Resilience” – please send submissions to egressmag@gmail.com by February 18, 2017.
