Ottawa’s Double Experience merge hard rock and Pokemon GO on upcoming tour with dates in Fredericton and Moncton.
Double Experience have been called the Canadian purveyors of nerdy neo-rock. What exactly does that mean? Good question. It might have something to do with the band’s affinity for major-league gaming and all aspects of video game culture or the different ways they try to incorporate their multi-player passion each into their live performances.
“On our last UK tour, we coordinated everything from Pokemon duels on Game Boys with our fans, Pokemon-themed drink specials, cosplay contests, and more,” said vocalist Ian Nichols. “This fall, we’re embracing Pokemon GO and incorporating aspects of that into what happens offstage.”
The band’s latest release, Unsaved Progress, follows two earlier albums, 721835 released in traditional formats as well as through a series of collectable trading cards, and their debut One Big Quicksand produced by Jayson DeZuzio.
Since coming together in 2011, Double Experience have toured extensively playing over 500 shows in bars, on festival stages, inside video game museums and at tattoo conventions in some 15 countries.
