YogaGrow to host performance during Shivering Songs.
Last year, organizers of the Shivering Songs Festival decided to offer a different type of audience/performer experience as part of their programming by creating a live music happening in an unconventional location.
For this experiment, the festival paired Nova Scotia’s Gabrielle Papillon with Ontario musician Bry Webb on an improvised stage inside The Urban Almanac, a downtown business as unique as the festival itself. The sold-out performance proved a memorable experience for all involved.
This year, the festival will once again be placing music in an unlikely location with Marine Dreams and The Weather Station performing at the popular Fredericton yoga studio, YogaGrow.
“I think it will be fun to bring the space to life in a different way,” said YogaGrow’s Amy Murphy. “This will be our first time doing anything like this so I’m excited to see how it goes.”
Located upstairs from Savage’s Bicycle Centre at 441 King Street, the YogaGrow studio is one of the city’s hidden gems, with its exposed brick, hardwood floors and a wall of windows reaching to the ceiling.
The building was built in 1914 and served as a fire station until 1971.
