Theatre UNB will produce a new adaptation of The Amorous Adventures of Anatol by Morris Panych, Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at Memorial Hall.
Theatre UNB is set to stage a new adaptation of a classic romantic. First performed in 1910, Austrian playwright Arthur Schnitzler’s Anatol dramatizes a Viennese playboy’s addiction to love and romance over the course of seven scenes, ranging from the farcical to the melancholy. Each scene chronicles the highs, lows, and absurd foibles of Anatol’s romance with a different woman, and the patient—and often exasperated—guidance he receives from his long-suffering friend/therapist, Max.
Theatre UNB’s production will feature a new version of the play, updated and adapted as The Amorous Adventures of Anatol, by one of Canada’s leading comic playwrights, Morris Panych, whose work is familiar to patrons of Theatre UNB (The Ends of the Earth, Lawrence and Holloman, 7 Stories). Putting a unique twist on the work, Anatol and Max will be played by a different actor in each of the scenes.
The Amorous Adventures of Anatol is directed by Len Falkenstein and features the students of UNB’s Drama 2173, with production design by Trent Logan.
