Valdy Touring East Coast This Fall

Canadian folk singer Valdy will be back on the East Coast this fall for a series of dates throughout the Maritimes beginning on September 20 at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre in Fredericton.

Simply put, Valdy is a Canadian folk music legend. A veteran of the guitar and piano from an early age, Valdy grew up in Ottawa, Ontario, born to Danish parents. From the mid-’60s, he played with the London Town Criers, the Prodigal Sons and Blake Emmons. Signed to A&M for a solo contract, Valdy recorded his first solo album, Country Man, in 1972 and soon became Canada’s second most popular folk singer (behind Gordon Lightfoot) through his albums Landscapes (1973), Family Gathering (1974), See How the Years Have Gone By (1975) and Valdy & the Hometown Band (1976). And he has never stopped.

With a career spanning 50 years, 18 albums, two Juno Award wins and countless nominations, appearances on The Beachcombers, Sharon, Lois & Bram’s The Elephant Show, and being appointed a member of the Order of Canada in 2011, Valdy is as close to Canadian music royalty as one could hope to be.
