Daniel James McFadyen’s upcoming cross-Canada tour in support of his new single Sunshine includes a stop in Saint John, May 19.
Last week Halifax-based indie folk artist Daniel James McFadyen announced the released a new single and a supporting summer tour that will see him playing shows across the country during May, June and July. Sunshine, produced by Montreal’s Quinn Bachand, is a particularly timely single channeling those fleeting glimpses of warmth we often feel this time of year. With hints of Michael Franks scattered throughout, McFadden captures those bitter sweet moments when the fog lifts just enough to warm our faces and remind us better weather is on the way.
“Once I got to the studio with the idea for Sunshine, it was clear that it was going to be the focus of the EP,” says McFadyen. “There’s a mix of sweetness and eeriness in it that I’ve never explored before, and that experimentation definitely paid off.”
McFadyen’s upcoming tour began Sunday in St. John’s, NL and will include stops across Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. Among the run of dates is a special pair of performances taking place in Halifax for the 35th annual East Coast Music Awards where McFadyen’s 2022 single Hot Sun is nominated for Song of the Year and Rising Star Recording of the Year. McFadyen has also been selected to perform on June 17 at Canada’s prestigious music discovery festival NXNE.
Songs to Show Your Friends, McFadyen’s forthcoming EP, is available to listen to exclusively on vinyl ahead of its Fall 2023 release. Fans are invited to pre-order the record online, or visit the merch table on tour to purchase.
