Songs of the City is back. An important part of the festival, this event is completely unique when placed alongside the rest of the annual Shivering Songs lineup. Wolfcastle + Keeper E + Sadie at The Cap | January 19
Wolf Castle is a prominent voice in East Coast indigenous hip hop. He will be performing this show with a full backing band featuring members of The Olympic Symphonium. Keeper E’s 2021 album landed the award for New Artist Recording of the Year at Nova Scotia Music Week, and Sadie is one of the province’s best emerging pop/rock artists. A bonafide trifecta of top notch talent from our neck of the woods. View Event
Marian with Fuze Orchestra + Kelly McMichael at Charlotte Street Arts Centre | January 20
Here’s a fun one. Kelly McMichael writes incredible songs and delivers them with equal measure. She joins local, award winning, rock superstars Marian who have teamed up with a who’s who of classical musicians (FUZE) to explore new interpretations of their own music. Expect the unexpected. Hayden + Kelly McMichael at The Wilmot United Church | January 21
Who doesn’t love Hayden? No one. That’s who. A national treasure. Stunning songs and brutal honesty. Hayden’s thirty year career helped shape Canadian indie music history. Simply put, he’s one of the best. Kelly McMichael opens the show. Double whammy. View Event
Cadence Weapon + Monark + Keeper E + Waants at The Cap | January 21
Indie pop meets Canadian (and local) hip hop royalty. Cadence Weapon has been at the top of Canada’s hip hop scene for decades and Monark has long been a driving force in East Coast regional hip hop. These two artists alone could easily command an evening on stage, but throw a pair of Halifax favourites into the mix and you’ve got yourself a night to remember. Epic on all fronts. View Event
