The Brood bring their brand of psychedelic pop to The Cap for a NYE performance with chillteens and special guests.

This month welcomes the return of the good old fashioned New Years Eve party at The Cap. By December 31 there is a strong chance you will have had your fill of family gatherings and traditional holiday get-togethers. So here is a chance to dance out all that holiday exhaustion and ring in the new year with The Brood.
“Since this is the first NYE we’re able to celebrate without Covid-restrictions in three years, this will be an extra-special night,” said The Brood’s Siobhan Martin. “We always love playing in Fredericton where we have such great fans. We are pleased to be performing with chillteens, a local favourite, as well as stage design by Kate Hamill this NYE.”
The Brood recently released Puttin’ On A Show, the group’s first new recording in five years. Full of lush keys and a wash of infectious leads, Puttin’ On A Show only reinforces The Brood’s presence as one of the most dance-inducing ensembles east of Montreal.
The album’s title track is one of their most ambitious to date, shifting between thick, disco-era grooves; simple, memorable leads; and clocking in at six and half minute mark. It’s like an evening at Studio 54 compressed into a single, comfortable listening experience.
“With Puttin’ On A Show, we wanted to get a sound reminiscent of late 70’s Chi,” said Martin. “We all like that sound and thought it would be an appropriate way to convey the material. Diego Medina, who engineered the record, was very onboard with that approach, and we spent more time with the keyboards and really dialed in those sounds.”
The evening will get underway with Fredericton’s own chillteens, making their first appearance since playing at Harvest Music Festival in September.
