Alex McAllister and Jason McIntrye star in Theatre UNB’s first production of the season, Oct. 27-29 at Memorial Hall.
Canadian playright Morris Panych has been called one of the country’s most brilliant comic dramatists. And for many, the two-time Governor-General’s Award winner’s dark comedy Lawrence and Holloman is among his best.
Lawrence and Holloman is about fate, fortune, friendship, and the meaning of life. Two men meet in a bar and strike up an unlikely friendship. One is alpha-male Lawrence, a hyper-confident and unfailingly optimistic suit salesman who seems to have everything going his way. The other, Holloman, is everything Lawrence is not. When a series of increasingly bizarre and debilitating accidents cause Lawrence’s life to unravel piece by piece, pushing his capacity to always look on the bright side to the limit, Holloman remains loyal and supportive to his new friend. He’s there for him, every day, right by his side…
This upcoming production by Theatre UNB is directed and produced as a thesis production by fourth-year students Armin Panjwani, Victoria Hicks, and Seth Giberson, and stars Alex McAllister as Lawrence and Jason McIntrye as Holloman.
