Launched in response to Covid-19 back when theatres were dark and artists everywhere were wondering what the future held, TNB’s Fall Festival of New Plays has offered New Brunswick playwrights the chance to have their work developed by experienced dramaturges and performed as a reading by a cast of professional actors. Now entering its third year, the Festival is once again seeking new scripts from New Brunswick-based or born playwrights interested in seeing their work developed further.
The full call for submissions can be found HERE.
Of the 18 scripts included over the past two years, at least four have since been produced by companies and festivals as diverse as NotaBle Acts Theatre Festival, Red Panda Productions and The Foster Festival.
TNB’s upcoming 22/23 season will feature to two world premiere productions of plays featured during the first two Fall Festivals: Bluebirds by Vern Thiessen and Resident Aliens by Don Hannah. Thiessen was a guest artist for the inaugural event and Hannah’s plays was featured as a reading in 2021.
Deadline to submit is August 12.
