One of the most influential groups to grow out of the city’s music community over the past few decades, the members of Share will reunite for an August 12 performance at The Cap.
It’s always challenging to try and convey a group’s influence without sounding hyperbolic. Without inflating or overstating things in a way that seems unbelievable. Especially when it comes to Share, the group fronted by Chipman-born, one-time Frederictonian, and current Montreal resident Andrew Sisk.
As a creative outlet for his own songwriting, Share introduced Sisk’s poetic lyricism to audiences throughout the Maritimes, across Canada and Europe during the group’s initial run from 2005 to somewhere around 2010. Conceived initially as a solo project with Sisk performing his songs on ukelele, a group eventually took shape and released a pair of albums through Forward Music Group.
Backed by perennial Fredericton musicians Zach Atkinson, Dennis Goodwin, Nick Cobham and Kyle Cunjak, Share expanded Sisk’s songwriting and played an important role in furthering the music careers of each musician involved. Members of the group would contribute to countless projects in the years following the end of Share’s initial run including Force Fields, Grand Theft Bus, Snailhouse, Some Dads, Kill Chicago, Heat and Lights, The Olympic Symphonium, Catherine MacLellan, Michael Feuerstack, David Myles, Motherhood and others.
Every few years the members of Share get together to revisit these songs and the important friendships they helped solidify. August 12 will be a special night.
