This could be the busiest week for live entertainment in Fredericton since COVID. There are several shows happening on stages across the city. There’s even a rescheduled New Year’s Eve performance happening! Lots to see and do, This Week in Fredericton.
Tuesday
Raine Hamilton String Trio at The Fredericton Playhouse. Raine is part prairie songstress, part story-weaver; each song has a story delivered with her signature humour and grace. A classical violinist and musicologist by training, Raine and her string trio offer a refreshing taste of chamber-folk with arrangements that push and pull, that move as they console. 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday
Open Mic at Broken Record Bar and Music Room. 8 p.m.
Thursday
Goose Jenkly at The Broken Record Bar and Music Room. Sonic Detour’s Goose Jenkly plays a solo show. 9:30 p.m.
Open Mic at The Cap. 8:30 p.m.
Tristan Legg and the Mad Dogs at Dolan’s Pub. 10 p.m.
STU Directing presents Creative Control at Ted Daigle Auditorium. A night of short plays from up and coming student directors. 7:30 p.m.
Bromance: Barely Methodical Troupe at The Fredericton Playhouse. Bromance is the exhilarating UK-based circus show with relationships at its heart. Mixing personal chemistry and humour with skills in parkour, b-boying, tricking, hand-to-hand acrobatics, Cyr wheel and more, Bromance explores male companionship and its limits. 7:30 p.m.
Measha Brueggergosman + Pallmer at Wilmot United Church. The Cold Snap Music Series is an opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy live music. Measha Brueggergosman has performed on the world’s most famous stages, with accompaniment by some of the most celebrated symphonies, but on March 31st she brings it all back home, for a magical night at the Wilmot United Church with special guests, Pallmer. 7 p.m.
Acoustic Ease at Grimross Brewing Co. Anthony Gray and Maksim Osipau team up for an evening of tunes. 8 p.m.
Friday
Dead Unplugged at The Broken Record Bar and Music Room. Ian Beattie and Connor Fox will be filling the room with the sounds of The Grateful Dead.10 p.m.
The Labour Union at The Tipsy Muse Café. From a garage on the Doak Road to a downtown stage near you, come out for a night of comedy. 7 p.m.
Jon Hines at Grimross Brewing Co. Nova Scotia’s Jon Hines will be in town to play Friday night. 8 p.m.
Carlin & Clyde Fraser at York County Cider. Carlin and Clyde Fraser will be bringing some great country music as well as a splash of Americana. 7 p.m.
Tristan Legg and the Mad Dogs at Dolan’s Pub. 10 p.m.
Come On Up To The House – The Music of Tom Waits at Grimross Brewing Co. A Living Roots fundraiser with Don Flatt, The Cullins Brothers, Amy Anderson, Colin Fowlie and many more. 8 p.m.
Ben Caplan at The Fredericton Playhouse. Ben Caplan is both the roar of the hurricane and the eye of the storm. He has an uncanny ability to channel both wild abandon and quiet introspection. His songwriting pulls from many diverse influences but both his music and his lyrics regularly draw from his Jewish heritage. Often mixing biblical imagery and klezmer inflected melodies, Caplan re-appropriates ancient sounds and themes with a decidedly contemporary folk twist. 7:30 p.m.
New Exhibitions opening at Gallery 78. Enjoy work by Cliff Turner, George Paginton and Barbara Safran de Niverille with an opening reception 5-7 p.m.
Saturday
Dad Patrol EP Release Show at The Broken Record Bar and Music Room. Not Now and North of Nowhere join Dad Patrol to celebrate the release of their new EP. 10 p.m.
Brent Mason + Jessica Rhaye at The Tipsy Muse Café. Saint John’s Brent Mason and Jessica Rhaye share the stage, one night only, at The Muse. 7 p.m.
Tortue + The Slumps + Tooth & The Fang at The Cap. Here’s a mixed bag of great performers. Prog rock meets singer songwriter as only they can on The Cap stage. 8:30 p.m.
Beaverbrook Art Gallery Reopens! The Beaverbrook Art Gallery will welcome patrons back beginning April 2 with Riopelle: The Call of Northern Landscapes and Indigenous Cultures, a major traveling exhibition from the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. 12-5 p.m.
Book Signing at Westminster Books. Join Barb Curtis as she signs copies of her latest novel, Falling for You. 1-2 p.m.
Tristan Legg and the Mad Dogs at Dolan’s Pub. 10 p.m.
Pretty in Pink at The Delta Hotel. Better late than never. A rescheduled New Year’s Eve performance by New Brunswick’s top 80s tribute party band. 9 p.m.

Westminster Books kicks off Poetry Month. Westminster Books kicks off Poetry Month with poets Sue Sinclair & Phoebe Wang. 2-4 p.m.
Open Mic at York County Cider. 2 p.m.
Rick Fines at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre. Rick Fines has had a long and storied career as a hard working musician, touring across Canada countless times solo, as a duo or with a full band. He has recorded 14 albums and has been a guest on many others. No stranger to Fredericton audiences, Fines is back this week for his first NB in a few years. 7 p.m.
Intro to Powwow Dancing at Wolastoqey Burial Ground. Join TNB for an afternoon of outdoor movement and dance. Led by dancer/choreographer Nipahtuwet Naka Wespahtuwet Possesom (Possesom Paul), this short and sweet workshop will provide an introduction to pow wow dancing and explore how traditional dance can mix with contemporary movement. This event is perfect for families looking for a unique way to spend an afternoon outside! No charge. 1-2 p.m.
