Spearhead Theatre presents Let’s Fall in Love Jazz Review at Maxwell’s Restaurant. The first of the two revues, Let’s Fall in Love, will feature and three course meal with performances by Jacob Martin and Kelly McAllister, with live accompaniment by Keegan Manson-Curry. The show follows two friends who met on a dating app before the pandemic hit. Navigating online dating is hard enough, but how do you meet your soulmate during a pandemic? Set to jazz standards we all know and love, will these two ever find someone to join their bubble? Dinner starts at 5:30pm and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available now. More info.

Mini Downtown Gallery Hop. Three galleries are joining forces to offer a Gallery Mini Hop with the backdrop of beautiful autumn foliage. Please bring your community masks and head out to visit exhibitions at Gallery 78, Gallery on Queen and Created Here Studio. 4-7 p.m.
City of Fredericton Summer Artist in Residence Exhibition at Gallery 78. The City of Fredericton’ 2020 Summer Artist in Residence Program, held at Odell Park and the Fredericton Botanic Garden, will be highlighted in a group exhibition of works. Fourteen artists, practicing a variety of art forms, participated in the program throughout July and August, creating and demonstrating their work to the public. The exhibit will include works created and inspired by this residency and will range from visual arts, music, fine craft, literature and more.
The artists include: Kirsten Stackhouse, Ralph Simpson, Emily Kennedy, Sasha French, Cat Candow, Riel Nason, Sarah Sarty, Tracey Dutt, and Fibre Arts Network Members (FAN): Jasmine Cull, Renata Britez, Karen LeBlanc, Jacqueline Bourque, Carline Simpson, and Darcy Hunter. The exhibition opens on October 8 from 4-7pm. You are invited to mingle outside with artists and tour the gallery in limited numbers. Face masks are required. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 4pm, and Saturday from 10am to 3pm, or by appointment. Downstairs at Gallery 78 will feature works for purchase from a Fredericton collector with an “excellent eye” as well as a bounty of flowers in Gathered Blooms, a delightful group exhibition by many favourite gallery artists. Workshop: Don’t Shoot the Professor: Making Documentary Films Inclusive and Effective. In this workshop, Paul De Decker will introduce you to an ethical approach to making documentary filmmaking that blends key concepts from academic research and film production. He argues that any knowledge that research professors possess – and which a documentary filmmaker wants to showcase – should, first and foremost, be integrated with communities who are most likely to benefit from or be affected by that knowledge. A documentary film should include a relevant and balanced involvement of all stakeholders. In this, “Nothing about us without us” approach, the story/film does not belong to the filmmaker but rather seeks to balance power between researcher, filmmaker, and community. De Decker will show you how to develop a Community of Practice in which all parties contribute their voices to the complexity of the story being told. 7:00pm to 8:15 p.m. This free workshop is presented by the NB Filmmakers Co-op. Braden Lam Album Release at Grimross Brewing Co. Blending authentic songwriting with modern indie flare, Braden Lam is forging the path to a new 21st century folk- pop. Joined by Katelyn Bonomo, the Halifax based duo is hitting the road to celebrate the release of Lam’s new album, Inside Four Walls. Emerging duo Atlas will also be performing. Tickets are on sale now for $20 per table of two and $60 for a table of six.

Sardinia by Janice Wright Cheney at CreatedHere. Sardinia is an immersive installation that conjures the sheer abundance of the past. Using video, audio, and sculptural elements, Sardinia projects thousands of sardines swimming, without end, across the CreatedHere/NBCCD Studio.
Launched during FLOURISH Festival, Sardinia will be open Thursday evenings until October 8. With limited capacity, we will be allowing 9 members of the public in at a time, and masks are required.
UNB Art Centre: Attending the Apocalypse at Memorial Hall. The UNB Art Centre presents Attending the Apocalypse by Jennifer Lee Wiebe and Janice Wright Cheney, an exhibit that was cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the exhibit was presented virtually it will now actually be on view in the gallery spaces from. In keeping with COVID-19 requirements for physical distancing and contact tracing, the exhibit will be accessible Sundays only. To view the exhibit, please visit the website and sign up for a date and time; only 4 people will be allowed in each gallery at one time for a 20 minute period.
In Process: Urchin at George Fry Gallery. Immerse yourself in the shell patterns of sea urchins when St. Andrew’s-based artist Alanna Baird presents her latest works. This exhibition is a special treat for the college – Alanna Baird graduated from our Ceramics program in 1978. Since then she has become quietly prolific in the New Brunswick Craft and Art communities as a multi-media artist and can often be found working away in artist residencies. Baird won a nationwide competition in 2013 at Kingsbrae Gardens with her piece entitled Salmon Vortex.

UNB Centre for Musical Arts presents MusicUNB 2020 Fall Live Stream Concerts. We are so excited to continue our proud tradition of bringing music to the university and the broader community. As always, MusicUNB has an interesting array of concerts for you as well as our 2nd Contemporary Music Festival. The only thing different this season is that you will participate virtually! Most of the concerts this season will still be taking place at Memorial Hall, but will be live streamed for online viewing only. Some of the performances will be pre-recorded separately, and then assembled into a video montage to be viewed by our online audience.
