Beaverbrook Art Gallery’s Curator Crunch is Back

Explore the work of photographer Thaddeus Holownia this Wednesday on Facebook Live with the BAG’s John Leroux.

The Jolicure Pond is an artificial pond lying below the home of Thaddeus Holownia in Jolicure, New Brunswick. The series of colour landscape photographs, made between 1996–2000, examines the changing face of light above the horizon and those in the landscape and particularly the surface of the pond. The doors may be closed at Fredericton’s Beaverbrook Art Gallery, but gallery staff are doing their best to stay in touch with friends and supporters. In addition to sharing regular updates on the ongoing expansion project, the BAG’s Manager of Collections and Exhibitions John Leroux will relaunch his Curator Crunch series as a livestreaming event.

Launched back in 2018, the gallery’s Curator Crunch sessions are designed to “comfortably fit into your lunch break” and provide some additional food for thought related to current exhibitions on display. Hosted by Leroux, these lunchtime talks have highlighted work by Fred Ross, Mary Pratt, Cornelius Krieghoff and several others.

After a six month break, the series returns as a Facebook Livestream beginning September 9, with new Crunch events happening monthly, on the second Wednesday of every month.
