City of Fredericton Artists in Residence Enter Second Week of Creation

Seven artists continue to create in Fredericton green spaces this week as part of the City’s summer Artist in Residence program.

The City of Fredericton’s summer artist in residence series continues this week with both the Fibre Arts Network made up of artists Caroline Simpson, Darcy Hunter, Jacqueline Bourque, Jasmine Cull, Karen Leblanc and Renata Britez creating at Odell Park and multidisciplinary artist Cat Candow working amongst the rotodendrends and roses at Fredericton Botanic Gardens.

“My first week was a wonderful experience,” said Candow. “I have explored a different flower or two each day and recreated them out of whatever materials felt right. I met many interesting people, learned a lot about spiders, moths and hummingbirds and made friends with a couple of squirrels.”

Candow has been sharing her work through live sessions on Instagram, taking viewers through her process offering demonstrations and inspiration to at-home audiences.

The public is invited to interact with the artists to learn about their work online and in-person, while maintaining appropriate distancing guidelines.
