Just weeks before closing their doors due to the ongoing health crisis, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery opened one of most anticipated exhibitions exhibitions the gallery has hosted in recent years. Emily Carr: Fresh Seeing – French Modernism and the West Coast (on loan from the Audain Art Museum) includes over 50 paintings, watercolours and drawings by Carr along with a selection of works by her instructors. Unfortunately, this visually rich and historically significant exhibition, which was supposed to be on display until May 31, will most likely live out its time in Fredericton behind locked doors.

But all is not lost. Thanks to his passion and understanding of the important role art can play in all our lives, the gallery’s manager of collections and exhibitions John Leroux has taken on the task of sharing this exhibition and others through the gallery’s social media channels.
