Shivering Songs 2020 will be a reminder for some, and a wake-up call to others who have yet to recognize the immense wealth of artistic talent that exists in our province.

Just when you might have thought the tenth anniversary edition of the Shivering Songs festival couldn’t possibly get more New Brunswick, organizers took things to a whole new level with last week’s third major lineup announcement.

Joining this year’s already impressive made-in-New-Brunswick lineup are Tampa, The Easley Quartet, Natalie Sappier-Samaqani Cocahq, Keith Hallett & The Hookers, Adyn Townes, The Backstays, Jerry Faye, David R. Elliott, Kylie Fox, Graeme Kennedy, Siding (fka Property//), River of Diamonds, My Black Ram, Kurtis Eugene, Rebecca Salazar Leon, Sadie Donahue, FM Berlin, Richie Young & Friends, Tooth and the Fang, Shady Jane, Fraser Boldon, and Capital 6.

Beyond music, this year’s event will also feature standup comedy with Jimmy MacKinley, Maggie Estey, Ben Conoley, Paul Lewis, and Anthony Bryan; an architectural walking tour with John Leroux; and a special performance by local musician Mike Bravener, who will entertain audiences with a lineup of New Brunswick folk songs from the 18th and 19th century. The Calithumpians will also return with a family-friendly show at the Fredericton Public Library.

“It’s no mistake that this announcement celebrates so many unique New Brunswick artists,” said Festival co-organizer, Zach Atkinson. “We’re thrilled to use this milestone in our own story as an opportunity to recognize the tremendous impact of these artists on our province and beyond.”

One of only a few non-New Brunswick musicians performing at this year’s festival, Hamilton/London, Ontario’s WHOOP-Szo will join Zaum and Cedric Vieno for a performance at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre on February 1. WHOOP-Szo are one of the most important bands making music in Canada today and as past Flourish Festival artists-in-residence and regular visitors to the east coast, the band are viewed by many to be honourary New Brunswickers. A perfect addition to this year’s lineup.

Weekend passes and individual tickets to Matt Andersen, Tomato/Tomato, and The Belle Comedians Reunion have sold out. In response to demand, the Festival added a secondTomato/Tomato performance on Saturday February 1 in Officers’ Square. A limited number of Saturday Passes and select individual show tickets, along with complete festival information, are on sale at www.shiveringsongs.com
