Here are a few live music and theatre events to help you slowly climb out of the holiday slumber.
Friday
Evan LeBlanc at The Tipsy Muse Café. Evan LeBlanc comes from a deep background of music. He found his voice at a very young age performing at benefit concerts and fundraisers with his mother and sisters around their small home town of Nackawic, NB. Known mostly for his work with Fredericton rock band David in the Dark, LeBlanc has seen stages all across the country, both big and (very) small. He has played for crowds of hundreds, and crowds of just a few at festivals, bars, cafes, and even living rooms. 7 p.m.
Hard Charger + Diner Drugs + Scumlord at The Capital Complex. Start your year off on the right foot with three of New Brunswick’s loudest. And come cheer on local favourites Hard Charger before they hit the road to Mexico. Doors at 9.
Saturday
Sugarbomb at The Tipsy Muse Café. This 6-piece musical party has come together with a purpose to bring about the joyful revival of what is felt as the dynamo sound that impacted nearly everything during a Golden age of popular music – Motown & Soul. 7 p.m.
Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Tribute Show at The Capital. Stephen Lewis and Bobby Mahar play their favourites from the Matthews/Renolds partnership. 10 p.m.
Sunday
Auditions and Submissions Workshop. How do I step into the audition room with my best foot forward? How do I submit a headshot and resume for a general audition? How do I even begin to choose a monologue for auditions? All of these questions and more will be answered at Spearhead Theatre’s first workshop of 2020, Auditions & Submissions, part of the Sunday Service Series. 1 p.m.
Open Mic at The Tipsy Muse Cafe. Bring a song or two. 2-5 p.m.
Open Mic at York County Cider. After you’ve played a few tunes at The Muse, head over to York County Cider and hit up a whole new audience! 2-5 p.m.
