Curated by long-time UNB Musician-in-Residence Nadia Francavilla, this new festival will spotlight the work of Canadian female composers and performers.
Music UNB will host a Contemporary Music Festival this month. The event, curated by the school’s long-time musician-in-residence Nadia Francavilla, will spotlight the work of Canadian female composers and performers across three unique performances and a panel discussion.
“I am thrilled to curate a new Contemporary Music Festival featuring incredible music written by women who are established or emerging composers,” said Francavilla. “Their fascinating music reflects an array of emotions, from the sublime and beautiful to the silly and absurd. It’s never boring.”
Francavilla will perform at each of the Festival’s events for collaborations with the experimental ensemble Terre Wa (Strings and Wires), pianist Carl Gionet and vocalist Sally Dibblee (With A Blue Dress). Her final performance of the Festival (Rose Bolten: Portrait) will highlight the music of composer Rose Bolten in collaboration with dancers Amanda Pye and Amanda LaRusic and bassist Andrew Miller.
