The Fredericton Girls+ Rock Camp is a week-long camp for female identifying youth, trans and non-binary folks aged 11-17 centred around inclusivity, creativity and confidence building. Campers get to learn a new instrument or extend their instrument knowledge and form a band under the guide of (wo)mentors.
In the above video, campers are shown learning musical instruments, participating in workshops with (wo) mentors, screen printing t-shirts, rehearsing with their bands and preparing to rock out on stage for the end of the week showcase.
The third annual Fredericton Girls+ Rock Camp will take place from August 19 to 23, with the annual showcase event taking place on Friday, August 23 at 7 p.m.
The FG+RC was also featured in a recent episode of The Capital Project.
The Charlotte Street Arts Centre hosts the Girls+ Rock Camp to help youth succeed and overcome challenges in their life. At the Fredericton Girls+ Rock Camp, we know that through creating music we can also bring about personal and social change.
Registration is now open for the 2019 camp. Learn more at www.charlottestreetarts.ca
