This weekend’s roundup includes a punk rock themed fundraiser, a new gallery exhibition, a pair of great Moncton bands at The Capital and more.
Friday
Three Decades of Punk: 70’s-90’s at Grimross Brewing. Local musicians playing songs from the 70’s thru the 90’s in support of Living Roots Music Festival and Greener Village. 8 p.m. $10-$15.
The Fabulously Rich at The Capital Complex. The Fabulously Rich has come together to pay tribute to this monumental Canadian band, while at the same time, helping to raise money for the Downie Wenjack fund, making donations from each show they play. 8 p.m. $12-$15.
New Exhibitions by Cliff Turner, Chris Harding & Réjean Roy open at Gallery 78. In his new body of work for the exhibition View from the East, Christopher Harding paints in the style of East Asian woodblocks, using a technique he developed himself, and depicts familiar and beloved Atlantic coastlines such as Hopewell Rocks, Grand Manan, and Cape Sable Island, all in the style of 18th century Japan. Cliff Turner captures perspectives of Saint John, Fredericton and Sussex in a whole new light in Landscape Rediscovered. The artist illuminates recognizable scenes, from bridges to city blocks in the foreground of the painting, and taking centre stage are his brilliant skies and cloudscapes. In the upstairs gallery, do not miss a group of Réjean Roy’s latest oil paintings, from sunsets to shadow play over a northern New Brunswick winter landscape. On display until June 2.
Saturday
Colin Fowlie at The Tipsy Muse Café. Hot on the heels of a brand new release, Colin Fowlie will prove why he’s one of NB’s most talked about songwriters. 7 p.m. $10
Les Païens in Wilser’s Room. Les Païens have crafted a blend of jazz, rock and electronic loop based music that crosses over into uncharted territory through improvisation. Hailing from the Moncton, New Brunswick, the jazz/rock institution of eastern Canada has been producing albums and touring for the past 24 years with noted performances at Montreal Jazz Festival, Evolve Festival, Francofolies de Montréal and Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival in Fredericton. 8 p.m. $10
FM Berlin + 86&8 + Snorkelers at The Capital. FM Berlin is a four-piece Alt-Indie Rock band from Moncton, New Brunswick that sounds like The Police and The Strokes made a baby… in space. Doors at 9 p.m. Show at 10. $8.
Nashville Hurricane at The Playhouse. Following up on his wildly successful performance of 6 Guitars in 2016, skilled musician and actor Chase Padgett returns with a riveting new show. Nashville Hurricane is a curious tale of fingerpickin’ fury, following the story of a mysterious acoustic guitarist who appeared out of nowhere 40 years ago, conquered the music industry and then vanished without a trace. 7:30 p.m. $15-$30.
Celtic Jam at The Tipsy Muse Café. All trad musicians welcome… dancers, singers, skies the limit 
Lead by Cape Breton Fiddler, Krista Touesnard, these sessions are great for participants and listeners…. come and try a tune or stay for the whole thing. 2-5 p.m.
