Artist’s Residency will Celebrate the Centre’s 10th Anniversary
Fredericton, NB–The Charlotte Street Arts Centre (CSAC) is thrilled to welcome treasured New Brunswick educator, writer, storyteller and performer, M. Anne Mitton as CSAC Writer-in-Residence from January to March 2015.
Mitton’s career has included a lifetime of service to New Brunswick learners through her work as a teacher, consultant and literacy specialist, as well as through multiple publications, including Inside Stories, a full anthology of short stories with Black Moss Press and the production of her play, Bad Water by Theatre New Brunswick and Giant Step Theatre Company.
Much of Mitton’s previous work has involved the use of history as a catalyst for the creative process, which beautifully resonates with the CSAC’s upcoming celebration of the history of the Charlotte Street School. During Mitton’s tenure as Writer-in-Residence, she will explore the history of the centre, interview former Charlotte Street School students and use their living memories to create a vivid piece of reader’s theatre. This new work will be performed by Saint Thomas University Theatre Program students, under the direction of Lisa Anne Ross for the upcomingAlumni Tea in May 2015.
M. Anne Mitton’s residency, entitled Honouring Yesterday will herald the beginning of a full year of activities and events in celebration of the ten-year anniversary of the Charlotte Street Arts Centre.
