Monday
Monday Night Film Series presents Hearts Beat Loud. Frank (Nick Offerman) owns a record shop in Brooklyn, where his passion for music is still felt through the torn posters on the wall and makeshift record crates. A widower, Frank has raised his daughter, Sam (Kiersey Clemons), alone for the last 11 years, and he’s having trouble coming to terms with her imminent departure for university. 7:30 p.m. at Tilley Hall, UNB Campus. $8 – $5 members. Symphony New Brunswick presents English Elegance at The Playhouse. With just the right amount of French Canadian flair, guest conductor Melanie Leonard, joined by Canadian super-star Shauna Rolston, will lead SNB through the beloved Elgar Cello Concerto and the incredibly luscious Ralph Vaughan Williams Symphony #5. Atlantic Ballet Atlantique Canada presents Ghosts of Violence at The Playhouse. Atlantic Ballet Atlantique Canada is honoured to collaborate with the Mi’kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre for a special presentation of Ghosts of Violence as part of The Red Shawl Campaign. This ballet has been creatively adapted to honour the Indigenous women of the Wabanaki Territory – the Mi’kmaq, Wolastoqiyik, and the Passamaquoddy. Pre-show talk at 6:45. House Concert with The Small Glories. JD Edwards and Cara Luft were two experienced singer songwriters on their own until they met by chance at a festival and decided to form a duo called The Small Glories. Vincent Vallières at Centre Communautaire Sainte-Anne. Popular Quebec singer-songwriter, Vincent Vallières, is back in Fredericton with new songs from his 7th album, Le temps des vivants. This touching and unifying show is the perfect opportunity to discover his new songs and to hear his many beloved classics. Simon Daniel, a singersongwriter from Moncton, will open the evening with his unique alternative-pop songs. Tickets starting at $20.

Indies Introduce Event at Westminster Books. Fredericton’s long-running independent book store invites the public to attend its Indies Introduce Event. Artist Talk: Peter Coffman at Beaverbrook Art Gallery. Ottawa-based photographer Peter Coffman speaks about his exhibition, Camino: Images, Music and Stories from the Pilgrimage Road to Santiago de Compostela, and his experience exploring the famed pilgrimage of Santiago in Spain. 2 p.m.
Musical Performance by Georgian Bay at Beaverbrook Art Gallery. Bilingual folk duo Georgian Bay performs in their first performance in Fredericton. Touring eastern Canada to promote their newest project, a double album called Courage, the Ontario-based duo will paint pictures with their soaring harmonies and vivid soundscapes. Admission is by donation, and all are welcome to attend. 12 p.m.
