Summer Concerts & Movies Under The Stars

Category: community 275

A look at Fredericton’s free outdoor summer concerts and films for the week of July 23.

It’s Highland Games week in Fredericton which of course means the Fredericton Society Of Saint Andrew Pipe Band will be performing in Officer’s Square. The band’s mid-summer concert is a long running tradition in Fredericton and serves as the perfect lead up to the weekend event which draws performers and competitors from around the Maritimes provinces. The  New Brunswick Highland Games will take place July 27-29.

If bagpipes aren’t your thing, we won’t hold that against you but will instead suggest taking in one of the other city concerts planned for the week ahead, with Acadian folk-rock troubadour Matt Boudreau performing July 24 in Officer’s Square and the R&B country outfit State Of Mind performing at the Lawrence Amphitheatre on Wednesday. Don’t forget the performances at both Christ Church Cathedral and St. Anne’s Chapel of Ease, where this week you can enjoy a mix of fiddle, cello and classical guitar during your lunch break. And of course, there’s always something interesting playing on the big screen Saturday and Sunday nights.

And don’t forget to check out some theatre starting this Thursday as NotaBle Acts Theatre Festival kick off their 2018 event with the comedic horror production, The Dangers of Geothermal Heating running July 26-28 at the Fredericton Playhouse. Summers in the city are alright!
