A new performance series begins at the BAG

Feels Good and the Beaverbrook Art Gallery have partnered for The Pavilion Series, a series of monthly performances that lead into the fall season.

This week will see the first in a series of performances at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery organized by the good folks at Feels Good. The series, which will include performances by Stephen Lewis, Wrote and Womb To Tomb, begins this week with an early evening performance by Electric Vibes, mixing modern electronic beats with world percussion.

This series is one of many live music events to take place at the Gallery since last fall.

John Leroux is the Gallery’s Manager of Collections and Exhibitions. As he explains, this increase in additional programming is part of the Gallery’s renewed vision to serve as a major cultural hub for the community.

“We’ve made a conscious effort of late to bring the public and musicians together at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, and it’s been more than successful so far,” said Leroux. “We want to become the living room of the community as far as culture goes, so fusing the fine arts with music performances in our amazing spaces is the perfect way to do this.

“Over only the past few months, we’ve been able to offer pay-as-you-wish concerts featuring Jeremy Dutcher, a quartet from the NB Summer Music Festival, Joel LeBlanc and a world-class improvisational drummer, First Nations drummers, and youth choirs, among others,” he said. “We’re currently in dialogue with the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival as well as Shivering Songs for some exciting initiatives, and we can’t wait to see all of this come to fruition for our community.”

Each event in the Pavilion Sessions series will feature Graystone on tap, desert specials at the cafe and art workshops. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
