5 Shows to See This Week in Fredericton

Category: community 178

Here we go with another week of recommended shows for your enjoyment. And it’s another big one. Lots of music. Lots of local (and international) talent. Lots of laughs too!

Comedian Mike Ward | Centre communautaire Sainte-Anne | September 1 | 7:30 p.m. | View Event

Canadian comedian Mike Ward brings his current solo show, Noir, to the Centre communautaire Sainte-Anne this week. Ward has appeared on television doing stand-up in 20 countries; airing throughout Europe, Africa, Australia and North America. Ward is known to perform in both French and English. This show will be French. Should be a hoot!

Harvest Happy Hour with Jake Clemons + My Black Ram | September 2 | The Tannery | 6 p.m. | View Event

If you take the mysterious, rugged side of Johnny Cash and mix it with the soulful down to earth love child of Bruce Springsteen and Clarence Clemons – shaken not stirred of course – you end up with the unique and talented Jake Clemons. He plays the guitar, sax, piano, and drums, he writes music, he sings, he loves rock ‘n roll! Jake Clemons has shared the stage with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, The Swell Season, The Roots, and Eddie Vedder to name a few. Catch him on stage in The Tannery this week with Fredericton’s My Black Ram opening the night.

Jon McLeod | September 2 | The Tipsy Muse Café | 7 p.m. | View Event

Canadian born and English residing, singer/songwriter Jon McLeod blends a variation of indie, folk, and blues, then adds a personal twist to the genres, creating his own alternative style with a calmly compelling vocal delivery and distinctive guitar playing. Catch him this week at the city’s most intimate music venue, The Muse.

Klarka Weinwurm + Marian + Stephen Hero | September 3 | The Cap | 8 p.m. | View Event

Klarka Weinwurm is a musician and band lifted from the marshes of Sackville, New Brunswick. Soft vocal melodies of folk and the grit of garage, Weinwurm and crew craft their own form of sludgy alternative indie rock. Her straightforward and catchy riffs have pop spirit and charm, paired with a heavy driving beat. Joining Klarka Weinwurm for this show are Fredericton rock rulers Marian and Saint John-based hip hop phenom Stephen Hero. Saturday plans: check!

Comedy Night at The Muse | September 3 | The Tipsy Muse Café | 7 p.m. | View Event

A fun-filled evening of hilarity and laughter with an amazing lineup of comics that promise to pair well with your refreshing beverage (spit takes aren’t the responsibility of the joke makers)! You’ll be giggling and chortling and cackling all night long. Hosted by local favourite, Gill Salmon! Featuring: Anthony Bryan, Brad Rice, and Line Woods.
