It’s hard to believe it’s been 40 years since Gallery 78 first opened its doors to the public in a family home on Brunswick Street.  Since that time the gallery has grown to become a Fredericton landmark and a home to some of the Atlantic Canada’s most cherished visual artists.

On October 7, Gallery 78 unveiled its 40th Anniversary Exhibit featuring an impressive selection of work presented alongside newspaper clippings, articles and featured publications spanning the gallery’s 40 year history.

The current exhibit is divided among the gallery’s four main exhibit rooms, each dedicated to a specific decade showcasing past and recent works by an incredibly array of artists including Molly Lamb Bobak, Stephen May, Amber Leger, Gerry Collins, Werner Arnold and Yvon Gallant, and includes everything from sketches and paintings to sculptures and pottery. It’s as much a celebration of the gallery as it is that of Atlantic Canadian art.

40th Anniversary Exhibition | Gallery 78 | 796 Queen Street | Current exhibition runs until October 30.
