Martinez and Milani top this year’s list of Silver Wave Film Festival Award winners.
The two Fredericton filmmakers – Arianna Martinez and Gia Milani – were the big winners at this year’s Silver Wave Film Festival, each capturing multiple awards and nominations and ranking among the top 5 Fan Favourites Films in this year’s festival.
Martinez’ dramatic short Maya Eterna received a total of eight nominations, winning awards for Excellence in Art Direction in a NB Short Film (Arianna Martinez), Excellence in Cinematography in a NB Short Film (Lance Kenneth Blakney) and Outstanding Performance by a NB Actress (Houlie Duque). Martinez also was awarded the 2020 CBC/NB Joy Award totaling $8500 in financial and technical support for a current project.
Gia Milani’s comedic short At The Back earned a total of four nominations, winning the Lex Gigeroff award for Excellence in Screenwriting, Outstanding Performance by a NB Actor (Jon Wilkinson) and Best NB Short Film. Milani also was awarded the East Coast Camera Rental Award.
This year’s festival took place completely online including the award ceremony which was hosted by Corena Walby and Ryan (CRASH) Barton.
