This weekend’s roundup includes album release shows from Kill Chicago and Paper Beat Scissors, the Silver Wave Film Festival, a pair of fundraisers,  an artist talk and music on every possible stage.

Paper Beat Scissors performs at The Capital on Saturday in support of his new album Parallel Line (Forward Music Group).

Friday

The Tragically Hip Tribute & Brain Tumour Foundation Fundraiser at The Delta. Join us in support of the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada for dinner and a can’t-miss show with The Fabulously Rich: Tragically Hip Tribute. The Galpines at The Tipsy Muse Café. If you enjoy your honky-tonk on the bawdy side, this award-winning, all-female, crass-country, hyphen-lovin’ comedy-band from the shady neighbourhoods of Moncton, NB will be right up your alley. 7 p.m.

Jim Axelrod Big Little Band at Wilmot United Church. You’ll hear songs made famous by Billie Holiday, Ray Charles, Dutch Mason, the Downchild Blues Band, and more. Enjoy the excellent acoustics of Wilmot United Church. Admission is by donation. 7 p.m.

Men of the 90’s Fundraiser at Grimross Brewing Co. We did Women of the 90’s. Now it’s the guys turn. We want to see all your movember stache’s as we raise some cash for Living roots and the fight against prostate cancer. 8 p.m.

Kill Chicago album release show at The Capital. Kill Chicago release The Fix with special guests Midnight Vesta and Seas. 8 p.m.

Saturday

Fall Cultural Gala at the Multicultural Association of Fredericton. Join in for the event of the year, organized by Bangladeshi-Canadian Association of New Brunswick (BCANB).This will be a late afternoon and early evening full of performances by various multicultural associations, foods from different cultures to taste, display booths to explore, and much more. Everyone is welcome and it’s free! Come meet people from different parts of the world, learn about new cultures, and enjoy sights, sounds, and flavours from around the world, all brought together under one roof. 4-8 p.m.

Paper Beat Scissors + Graeme Kennedy at The Capital. Paper Beat Scissors’ album release show with special guest Graeme Kennedy. 8 p.m.

Busty and the Bass & More – A Folly Fundraiser at The Capital. Enjoy music, dance and have a drink in support of Folly Fest. 8 p.m.

Joyful Noise at The Tipsy Muse Café. Joyful Noise draw influence from a wide array of contemporary and foundation artists in the jazz, funk, and blues traditions, as well as style elements from rock, electronica, and pop culture. Guaranteed fun. 7 p.m.

Artist Talk: Beneath the Surface 2019 at The George Fry Gallery. We are pleased to present an artist talk/meet and greet to close our most recent exhibition. Three artists from the show who attended the Beneath the Surface residency in Fundy National Park this past June and created work for the show in consultation with curator Craig Schneider will be present to discuss their pieces in the show: Jacqueline Bourque, Anna Mathis, and Tomo Ingalls. Other artists from the residency and Ali Murphy, the Executive Director of CraftNB will also be at the talk. Please stay tuned for updates! Catalogs are also available for $30 each. Please join us as we wish CraftNB’s 2nd edition of Beneath the Surface exhibition farewell as it starts a tour of the province. Fundraiser Exhibition for Chrysalis House at Gallery on Queen. We are pleased to host an exhibition fundraiser by George Strunz and Katie FitzRandolph in support of Youth in Transition. We invite you to join us at the gallery as we support Chrysalis House in their work to support youth in Fredericton. 2-4 p.m.

Dose – A tribute to Gov’t Mule at Grimross Brewing Co. It has been a few years since the mighty MULE have played Fredericton and we know some of you have the itch, so here is your chance. 8 p.m.

AFRO VYBZ at The Phoenix. DJ Luis and DJ Whine-It will be one the 1’s & 2’s bring you the best HIP POP, SOCA, DANCEHALL, AFROBEATS and more, Live at The Phoenix Night Club. If its a hit, they’ve got it. 10 p.m.

Sunday

PIGS – Canada’s Pink Floyd at The Playhouse. PIGS celebrate the long history of Pink Floyd by bringing to life countless fan favourites from the Floyd’s vast catalogue. Join them for an evening of deep cuts from records lost in the mists of time and gigantic hit songs from the crucial mid-70s years. On their In the Flesh tour, PIGS are bringing the majestic music and legendary concert experience of Pink Floyd to fans across North America. 7:30 p.m.

THTM + Capital 6 + Voodoo Sometimes at The Capital. Two of Fredericton’s finest join Halifax group Voodoo Sometimes for an evening of music at Wilser’s Room. 10 p.m.

The Mahones at The Capital. From an Irish pub to an Academy Award winning movie: The Mahones have come a long way in 29 years. Heralded as pioneers of the Irish punk scene, and internationally recognized as one of the best and hardest working punk outfits around, The Mahones formed on St. Patrick’s Day in 1990, and have been working on their own brand of Irish punk ever since. 9 p.m.
